SKS Damage Prevention & Liability

SKS Damage Prevention & Liability

Damage Prevention
  • Professional Installation: Proper installation is critical to prevent damage and ensure safety. For instance, gas cooktops require specific clearances (e.g., at least 24 inches) from combustible materials to prevent fire hazards [11].
  • Use of Authorized Parts: To extend product life and prevent accidents, only authorized components should be used. SKS is not responsible for malfunctions caused by unauthorized third-party parts [8].
  • Immediate Maintenance: Users are advised to immediately replace frayed power cords and stop use if strange sounds, smells, or smoke are detected to prevent further electrical damage or injury [13].
  • Handling & Unpacking: Retain protective layers (like adhesive-backed foam) during installation to prevent surface scratches and remove heavy components like grates before moving units to avoid structural damage [24].
Liability & Warranty
  • Limited Liability: SKS’s total liability is generally limited to the purchase price paid for the product. They are typically not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, such as lost profits or damage to other goods [22].
  • Industry-Leading Warranty: Products include3-year limited warranty covering parts and labor, often accompanied by a "5-Day Repair Promise" for minimal downtime [9, 15].
  • Damage at Delivery: Customers must inspect appliances upon arrival. Accepting a delivery without noting damage can alleviate the seller of liability for physical defects found later [7].
  • Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse, fire, floods, or improper installation by the user [18].
